Recycled Metals The gasifier will liquify any metal. Separation of the metals is not required before the reactor, although it does consume energy. The metal that goes into the reactor, either comes out the bottom of the reactor or is removed by the gas cleanup system. Any metals that are recovered are sold to metal recyclers. Purified Water Any low-pressure steam (small amount) not used in the process is either condensed or can be used to produce distilled water in a multi-effect distillation unit. Hydrochloric Acid During the gas clean up phase of the process, hydrochloric acid (HCL) gas is absorbed into water and distilled to a 15-20% concentration. Sulfur The hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in the gas is scrubbed out to make fertilizer grade sulfur using a biological process or alternatively can be converted into sodium bisulfite.
